چکیده

Objective: To determine the efficacy of dynamization in delayed union tibia diaphyseal fractures Methodology: A descriptive cross sectional study was done at Department Orthopaedic Surgery, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center, Karachi, Pakistan, from July 2020 to April 2021. total 97 consenting patients who suffered following intramedullary interlocking nailing were included study. Dynamization involved removal proximal or distal locking screws statically locked nail. Patients followed up for six months check bone union. All collected data entered into a pro forma and used electronically research purpose. Results: Over all achieved 72 (74.2%) cases after dynamization. The mean age our population 39.42+13.79 years. Advanced age, smoking, fresh old fracture, time initial nailing, diabetes associated with decreased dynamization, p-value <0.001, 0.033, 0.007, <0.001 respectively. While no significant association found between gender, BMI, hypertension, (p-value >0.05). Conclusion: findings this support idea that can be an effective method promote healing More randomized comparative clinical trials are necessary evaluate effectiveness

The Role of Biplanar Distal Locking in Intramedullary Nailing of Tibial Shaft Fractures

Background: To compare the union times of the uncomplicated tibial shaft fractures, which were distally locked by twocoronal and one sagittal screws and by only two coronal screws. Methods: 45 patients with tibial shaft treated with intramedullary nailing included in this study. 23 of 45 fractureswere treated with uniplanar two distal interlocking (Group 1) and 22 fractures were treated with bip...

Randomized trial of reamed and unreamed intramedullary nailing of tibial shaft fractures.

BACKGROUND There remains a compelling biological rationale for both reamed and unreamed intramedullary nailing for the treatment of tibial shaft fractures. Previous small trials have left the evidence for either approach inconclusive. We compared reamed and unreamed intramedullary nailing with regard to the rates of reoperations and complications in patients with tibial shaft fractures. METHO...

Randomized Trial of Reamed and Unreamed Intramedullary Nailing of Tibial Shaft Fractures

Methods: We conducted a multicenter, blinded randomized trial of 1319 adults in whom a tibial shaft fracture was treated with either reamed or unreamed intramedullary nailing. Perioperative care was standardized, and reoperations for nonunion before six months were disallowed. The primary composite outcome measured at twelve months postoperatively included bone-grafting, implant exchange, and d...

Closed and open grade I and II tibial shaft fractures treated by reamed intramedullary nailing.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the results of closed and open grade I and II tibial shaft fractures treated by reamed nail and unreamed nailing. SUBJECTS AND METHODS Between 1997 and 2000, 119 patients with tibial shaft fractures were treated with reamed tibial nails. Postoperatively 96 patients (70 closed and 26 grade I and II open fractures) were followed clinically and radiologically for up to 18 m...
